Born and raised on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia, Janet (she/her) has made her home in Victoria, on the territory of the Lekwungen-speaking peoples, since 2017. She is an educator, editor, and multi-genre writer currently working on a first poetry collection. Particular areas of interest in education include multilingual writers, first-generation/working class learners, and the implications of Generative AI for writing. Exploring topics such as the natural world, grief and loss, relationships, sociopolitical issues, and human rights, Janet writes to render the world as it is and to nudge it toward what it could be. Her work has appeared or is forthcoming in Prairie Fire, The Malahat Review, The Ex-Puritan, Room, Herizons, The Ampersand Review, Fiddlehead, and elsewhere. She currently volunteers as a first reader for Event and earns her living in the Writing Centre at Camosun College.
