Health Informatics - MSc (2018), PhD Candidate
Joe Walsh is a healthcare organizational leader focused on digital transformation, data-informed decision-making, and system resilience. As Integrated Director of Digital Health Solutions and Information Technology in the St. Joseph’s Health System, he supports digital health, privacy, data strategy, and ICT across a network of hospitals, long-term care homes, hospices, and community programs in Southern Ontario.
He has contributed to the planning, commissioning, and operations of major health system builds, including the New Oakville Hospital and the New Milton Hospital. Joe supported both projects from early planning stages through several years of operations, with a focus on integrating technology, clinical workflows, and governance structures to support high-performing, patient-centered care environments.
Joe also played a key role in the Health Information System (HIS) refresh project at Halton Healthcare, a wide-reaching initiative that touched nearly every part of the organization. As part of that work, he led a comprehensive re-write of all clinical downtime plans, policies, and procedures — strengthening organizational preparedness and ensuring continuity of care during digital transitions.
Joe completed his Master of Science in Health Informatics at the University of Victoria in 2018, an experience that helped shape his approach to healthcare leadership. The program deepened his understanding of system design and illuminated the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in driving meaningful digital health change.
Throughout his career, Joe has emphasized collaboration across disciplines to ensure technology is not just implemented, but meaningfully adopted. His leadership is grounded in practical execution — ensuring digital tools enhance rather than complicate care delivery, and that frontline staff have a voice in system design.
