Bursaries for Postsecondary Studies in French as a Second Language Program

IT’S REWARDING TO BE BILINGUAL!

English-speaking Canadians enrolled in an university program have an opportunity to receive a $3,000 bursary to perfect their bilingualism while studying in a field of interest.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

To receive a bursary for postsecondary studies in French as a second language, one must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada;
  • Have English as the first official language of Canada spoken;
  • Have completed secondary education in an English-speaking or non-official language institution (i.e., neither English-speaking nor French-speaking) and have graduated from it;
  • Be registered full-time in a college program (of a minimum duration of one year) or university program (of a minimum duration of two years*) taught in French in a post-secondary entity participating in the Program;
  • Complete at least 50% of courses and related activities (internships and training activities in the community) in French.

*Some one-year university programs are also eligible. Please contact your post-secondary entity to confirm your eligibility.




APPLICATION

The application period for 2024-2025 is open until February 28, 2025.

 

Distribution process

  • Candidates will be notified by email of the status of their application by the end of March.
  • The bursaries will be paid in one installment in April or May 2023.
