Dr. Belmonte's early worked focused on the continuities in the critical tradition from Hegel through Frankfurt School Critical Theory to Jacques Derrida’s ‘deconstruction’.  She is currently exploring the consequences of considering philosophy as literature - as crafted texts that must employ meanings that have complex histories in a literary tradition beyond a strictly philosophical scope.
