Geoffrey Bird

Position
Geoffrey Bird is an Associate Fellow at the Centre for Global Studies. He is also a Professor in the School of Communication and Culture at Royal Roads University, Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. He has taught a range of courses related to subjects such as communication theory, cultural and digital media studies, cultural memory, heritage and globalization. He has held a range of administrative positions, including School Director and Program Head. Geoff is also the Project Lead of the 'War Heritage Research Initiative' that has involved the production of over 35 short documentaries and various commemorative projects. His research also includes poverty alleviation, sustainability, strategic planning and education design.
Geoffrey Bird has over 35 years of experience in post-secondary education and training. He has held various positions with the provincial and federal governments, as an entrepreneur and as a consultant, and as a naval reserve officer. He has lived and worked in a number of countries in Southeast Asia, Europe and across Canada. His primary research interest involves film-making involving war heritage.
