Serap Asar Brown is a Ph.D. candidate in Adult Education and Leadership Studies working with Dr. Darlene Clover in the Faculty of Education at the University of Victoria. She is a ‘Water’ lover, poet, filmmaker, and long-distance bicyclist along rivers from source to sea. 
 
Serap’s research focuses on ways of relating to water and inquires how to move away from ‘commodity’ to ‘community’ relations within the context of reconciliation and climate change. Working collaboratively with W̱SÁNEĆ People, Serap aims to contribute toward a relational water pedagogy.
 
Serap’s area of interest involves the issues of voice and memory, arts-based and decolonial education and research, and relational methodologies rooted in Indigenous and feminist philosophies. Her arts-based publications and films reflect her critical adult education approach.
