National Centre For Indigenous Laws

The NCIL is being designed with two complimentary ambitions: to advance the goals of the University’s Sustainability Action Plan; and to embody the idea of building in harmony with and with a sense of responsibility for the environment, which is central to the work that will take place in the building.
Key sustainable targets include:
- LEED Gold v4 certification
- Optimize energy efficiency
- Design with a view toward climate resiliency
- Greenhouse Gas Emissions reductions
- Prioritize the use of local and low-embodied carbon materials
- Preservation and Restoration of Natural Ecosystems
- Integrate on-site Stormwater Management
- Give specific focus to tree retention
- Encourage use of Active Transportation
