Facility for Imaging, Photonics and Spectroscopy (FIPS)
Welcome to the Facility for Imaging, Photonics and Spectroscopy (FIPS), an open access user facility located in the basement of the Petch (PCH 071), Elliott Buildings (ELL 040) and including VicPicK - Victoria Photophysics Instrumentation for Chemical Kinetic, in the Department of Chemistry. FIPS is part of the Centre for Advanced Materials and Related Technology (CAMTEC) at the University of Victoria.
FIPS facility contains leading-edge technologies in imaging, photonics and spectroscopy for fundamental research and applications. FIPS is working closely with many medical and industrial research & development centres in the field of biomaterial, nano-photonics and medical sensing applications to the development of novel biomedical devices. The facility also contains an extensive assortment of optical and spectroscopic equipment that can be accessed by industrial and academic partners.
We offer training to all users so that they can become proficient with research technologies and techniques. Anyone may apply to use the facility regardless of discipline, whether for academic or commercial purposes. Users may arrange for training or commission our services directly. We encourage you to contact us to discuss how we can be of assistance to you.
