Centennial Stadium (STA, #128)

Centennial Stadium (STA) is a 5,000 seat stadium used for Vikes sporting events, and local and provincial school meets. It is also used for high-profile national and international sporting events.

Neighbouring fields are used by both varsity and intramural sports teams.

History

STA was built in 1967 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Canadian confederation.

The stadium was renovated for the 1994 Commonwealth Games, for which it served as the main stadium. Queen Elizabeth II opened the games on August 18th, and her son, Prince Edward, closed them on August 28th.
