History

Dr. W. Harry Hickman (1909 - 1997) was the University of Victoria's (UVic) first acting president after its creation in 1963. He founded the university art collection and was the head of UVic's modern languages and French departments until his retirement in 1974.

The building was formerly known as the Centre for Innovative Teaching (CIT).
