Celebrating 50 years of impact, learning and community partnerships

October 08, 2024

environmental studies

The School of Environmental Studies is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and it’s been a remarkable journey. What started as a “pilot program” in Environmental Studies with UVic funds in 1974 has grown and developed into a thriving School in 2024. The School has a long history of community-engaged research, teaching, and learning with partners across BC; it is a trusted partner for land and water-based learning and research and serves as a talent accelerator for environmental leaders, change makers, and policy advisors.

A celebration event took place on October 9, 2024 at the Shaw Centre for the Salish Sea.
