UVic Jubilee Medal awarded to Kenzie Baudin, psychology

Kenzie Baudin is a settler born on the traditional and unceded lands of the Quw’utsun [ka-wut-sen] (Cowichan) Peoples. She has lived on the traditional territories of the Lekwungen and WSÁNEĆ Peoples for the duration of her undergraduate degree and acknowledges, with gratitude, her privilege to live, work, and learn on these lands.

Kenzie has demonstrated exceptional academic excellence and meaningful community impact throughout her psychology studies. Recipient of five prestigious scholarships including the UVic Excellence Scholarship and President's Scholarship, she has consistently maintained outstanding academic performance while completing an honours thesis.

Kenzie’s passion for supporting children's development led her to join UVic's WITS Lab, where she made significant contributions to socioemotional learning programs. She helped align WITS bullying prevention curricula with BC's K-12 Social Awareness and Responsibility standards, and co-developed resources for the SPEAK-up program, including lesson plans and parent educational materials. Her innovative work extended to co-creating "Bake My Day," an educational app teaching social responsibility to elementary students through interactive bakery scenarios.

Beyond academics, Kenzie has volunteered extensively, supporting undergraduate research conferences and serving as a conversation partner for international students. She credits her success to family, friends, and mentor Dr. Paweena Sukhawathanakul. Kenzie plans to gain work experience before pursuing graduate studies, aspiring to a career empowering children and youth in her community.

The Faculty of Social Sciences is pleased to recommend Kenzie Baudin for this award.
