About

Hi, I’m Staci (she/her). I’m of West African decent, with roots in Ghana and Congo, and I was born and raised in Seatle. Since May 2024, I’ve been a visitor on the traditional territories of the Songhees, Esquimalt, and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples. Before moving here, I lived in Los Angeles and Boston, where I completed my Master of Social Work at Boston College.

Some of my greatest joys come from road trips with my partner, spending time with our pets, and being in nature, whether cycling, camping or paddleboarding. Nature has always been a grounding place for me and feels most like home.

Counselling approach

I joined the UVic community in July 2024 and became part of the Counselling team in August 2025, as one of the embedded Counsellors in the Faculty of Law. Alongside this role, I also support students through the Office of Student Life, as a Student Support Coordinator.

I’ve been working in the field of Clinical Social Work for over 10 years since completing my Master’s degree. My approach to counselling is collaborative, holistic, and strength based. My goal is to offer a space where you can feel safe, heard, and respected, with particular care for students who identify as BIPOC, 2SLGBTQIA+, neurodivergent, or part of another equity-deserving community. My work is grounded in anti-oppressive, trauma-informed practice that values each person’s story and the systems they’re navigating.

Areas of interest

Some areas I often work with include various levels of depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, mental health and substance use, and crisis support. I may use approaches such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), or trauma-focused therapy, but what maters most is finding an approach that feels supportive and works best for you.
