About

Hello, my name is Stephanie Benedik. I completed my Bachelor of Science in Nursing at UVic and I’m excited to be back on campus supporting student wellbeing at the SWC.

I joined UVic Health in 2018 as a Registered Nurse. Previously, I worked as a Community Health Nurse for five years with the Songhees and T’Souke First Nations. I am very grateful to have had this opportunity to learn from and work alongside members of these communities.

My ancestry is European, and I have been a visitor on the lands of the Coast Salish peoples for my entire life. My pronouns are she and her. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time outdoors with my family, tending to rambunctious chickens and baking.

Nurse Liaison for Indigenous Students

I am currently the Nurse Liaison for Indigenous Students at the UVic Student Wellness Centre. I offer virtual weekly drop-in (Wednesdays 10:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.) or pre-booked appointments for Indigenous students.

I aim to provide a culturally safe and welcoming place for you to ask any questions you might have and to support you in accessing the health care you are looking for. Please reach out with any questions or concerns you have at nlfis@uvic.ca or contact the Coordinator of Indigenous Student Support at iaceiss@uvic.ca.
