Carl and Audrey Mawby CFUW Penninsula Bursary

Audrey was born in England in 1930. She joined the British Broadcasting Corporation in London after she finished high school and subsequently moved to Geneva, Switzerland to work with the World Health Organization.

In 1957, Audrey and Carl were married and over several years she supported him through several military commands and staff appointments. Much to her delight she was able to indulge a lifelong interest in history by studying at McGill University. She graduated in 1985 and followed that with post-graduate study at Exeter College in Oxford.

In the 1980s while living in Florida Audrey worked in the community to provide opportunities for higher education to disadvantaged students.

Audrey and Carl moved to Vancouver Island in 1991 and Audrey joined the Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW) Saanich Peninsula. Over the following years, she was involved in many aspects of the club and served as president from May 2006 – May 2007. After her death in December 2007, Carl and the CFUW established this bursary in tribute to her. Carl passed away in 2015. They are survived by their children Charles and Jane.
