Info for international donors
There are different considerations for how you can make a gift and claim tax benefits, depending on where you live and your alumni status.
Donors living in the USA
UVic alumni
If you graduated from UVic, or are the family member of a UVic alumnus, you can make your donation directly to UVic via credit card or cheque and receive a tax receipt in Canadian dollars.
Check with your accountant or local tax office whether you can use your Canadian dollar tax receipt for your US tax return.
Gifts of US-held securities should be made to our US affiliate, the US Foundation for the University of Victoria. UVic alumni living in the US who want to make a gift of stocks or securities should contact the planned giving office.
UVic’s EIN is 98-6001816.
Non-alumni US residents
If you are a US resident (but not a UVic alumnus), you can make your gift to the US Foundation for the University of Victoria. Your donation receipt will be issued by the foundation for the full amount of the gift in US dollars.
The US Foundation for the University of Victoria is the preferred option for donations from:
- non-alumni (or their families)
- US corporations
- foundations
- those wishing to make US securities donations
To donate by cheque, make your cheque payable to "US Foundation for the University of Victoria" and mail it to:
