Bea Scott Scholarship in Voice

SCOTT, Bea (née Hicks); April 4, 1907 – September 4, 1983

Born into a musical family in Victoria where her father, , taught voice for many years, Bea learned to sing and play the piano at a professional level. After the family moved to Vancouver to expand Mr. Hicks’ teaching career, Bea began accompanying and singing in many of the concerts he led.

She later married one of her father’s pupils, Vic Scott; they were together for 36 years before she passed away peacefully at home with Vic at her side. A kind and giving person, Bea would have loved that an award was created to honour their family’s love of music, music education and encouragement of young talent.
