Francis Woods Memorial Scholarship

Francis Woods, a London businessman, was the great uncle of Janice Flewelling of North Saanich, BC. Early in the 20th century Francis contemplated coming out to Canada and joining his brother near the farming community of Moosomin, Saskatchewan. However, at the outbreak of World War One, he joined the British Army and was subsequently killed at the Battle of the Somme on July 3rd,1916. His remains were never recovered.
