Dr. Bartlett graduated from the University of Victoria in 1973 from the Faculty of Science as a pre-med student, and went on to obtain his MD from UBC in 1979. Following Internship at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver, and specialty training in diagnostic radiology at UBC, in 1984 Dr. Bartlett entered practice as a Diagnostic and Interventional Radiologist in Abbotsford, BC. He spent his practice career caring for patients in the Fraser Valley.

Both raised in Victoria, Dr. and Mrs. Bartlett hold a special affinity for the city and the University of Victoria. They wanted to offer support to the University of Victoria, and its students, as a gesture of thanks for the strong undergraduate education provided to Dr. Bartlett.

“I enjoyed an excellent undergraduate experience at UVic that served as an excellent foundation for my subsequent medical degree and specialty training in diagnostic and intervention radiology. We want to enable other students to have the opportunity to study at UVic. We value higher education,” says Dr. Bartlett. “The faculty and staff of UVic provided the building blocks upon which a long and satisfying career in medicine was based.”

So they planned far into the future and decided to leave a  in their wills to help undergraduate students who are pursuing a career in health care. They established a fund to provide one or more annual scholarships for undergraduate students registered in pre-medicine disciplines such as biochemistry, microbiology, biology or chemistry and/or are registered in the School of Nursing, who have been accepted into a Canadian Medical School or Physiotherapy.
