Mohamed and Prabha Ibrahim Awards in Chemistry

Prabha and Mohamed Ibrahim came to UVic in 1985 for graduate studies in chemistry from Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India. While they were pursuing their studies, their two young daughters were attending elementary school nearby. Prabha and Mohamed finished their graduate studies in 1989 and they had wonderful advisors: Sandy Kirk for Mohamed and Fred Fisher for Prabha.

During their graduate studies they received a small award, but this additional financial support from UVic felt like an oasis in the desert. They want to return the similar favour to the upcoming undergraduate and graduate chemistry students. That is the reason for establishing this endowment.
