Matthew Cardin Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was established by the Cardin family, friends and colleagues, in memory of Matthew Cardin.  In 2002, Matt Cardin graduated from the University of Victoria with a Diploma in the Restoration of Natural Systems and a Bachelor’s degree in Geography.

Matt had a keen commitment to ecological restoration.  He combined this commitment with his passion for fishing, salmon conservation and enhancement and embarked upon a career in freshwater work.  He was an individual who cared deeply about freshwater ecosystems, and he was determined to make a difference.

Tragically, in December, 2003, Matt died accidentally while doing what he loved to do, exploring the great outdoors.
