Gervin Metis Award for Distinguished Advocacy and Leadership

Mark Gervin created this award for Metis Law Students. He created it to recognize a Metis Law Student who has given to their community, whether that community be the school, the larger community surrounding the school or wherever that student calls home.

He wanted us all to reflect upon the great sacrifice Metis students make when deciding to come and study at this institution and how much they offer their colleagues while at school and far into the future; Mark developed this perspective as he worked with a wonderful, bright, talented and hardworking Metis woman whom he called friend and colleague and sometimes co-counsel.

He wanted to help a student to make it over the finish line knowing that some Metis students have little outside help. Mark felt a need to help change the path of one student who can go on and change the path of many.
