Mary Marjorie Horan Scholarship/Bursary

Mary, one of five sisters, was born in Saskatoon on October 20, 1917. In 1947, she visited Victoria to attend her brother Earl's wedding and never left. Love would change the course of her life and she would stay and marry a military engineer.

Throughout her long life Mary enjoyed travelling, lawn bowling and bridge. She was an avid classical music fan, attending many symphony concerts and operas. She also went on opera tours, and amassed an extensive collection of recordings.

Mary passed away on November 30, 2013 at the age of 96.

Mary’s legacy will continue to live on in the form of the Mary Marjorie Horan Scholarship/Bursary to be awarded annually to an academically outstanding student entering, or a continuing student in, an undergraduate or graduate program in the School of Music.
