Dr. Nandi Scholarship

IEEE is the world’s largest technical professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity. IEEE and its members inspire a global community through its highly cited publications, conferences, technology standards, and professional and educational activities.

IEEE Victoria Section is creating this award in memory of Dr. Subhasis Nandi (1963-2016).
Dr. Nandi was born in India on May 27, 1963. He received his Bachelors (1985), Masters (1988), and Doctoral degrees (2000) all in Electrical Engineering.  Between 1988 and 1996, he pursued an illustrious career in industry and Central Power Research Institute of India. 

Dr. Nandi joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Victoria in 2000, where he devoted his time and energy to his students for 16 years. Dr. Nandi carried out research in power electronics and electric machines, and made significant contributions to his profession. He was awarded the IEEE Power Engineering Society Prize in 2007. He was promoted to the position of Full Professor in 2015.

Dr. Nandi was involved in the organization of several professional conferences and served as an Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications. He was a Senior Member of the IEEE and an active member of the IEEE Victoria Section serving as the Student Branch counselor throughout his association with the University of Victoria.
