Ted and Helen Hughes Entrance Award

The Honourable Ted Hughes is a former Justice of the Court of Queen's Bench for Saskatchewan, a former Chief Adjudicator, Indian Residential Schools Adjudication Secretariat, former Deputy Attorney General and Conflict-of-Interest Commissioner for the Province of British Columbia.

Helen Hughes is a former Alderman in Saskatoon, SK and City Councilor in Victoria, BC. Her extensive volunteer work included serving the interests of people from First Nations communities as she helped build bridges between urban and non­urban Indigenous youth.

Together, Ted and Helen have had a deep interest in the administration of justice, education and the welfare of Indigenous youth. They wish to support worthy students emolled in the University of Victoria's Faculty of Law, with a focus on Indigenous students where possible.
