Ted Whelen Graduate Scholarships

John Whelen is establishing this award in memory of his father, George Edward (Ted) Whelen, who attended Victoria College when it first opened and finished his degree in commerce at UBC. He worked for the BC Government in the Bureau of Economics and Statistics before returning to UBC to attend law school.

After law school, he worked in the Ministry of Municipal Affairs as a senior policy advisor and expert in local government. Working in Municipal Affairs for over 30 years, he initiated the system of Regiorial Districts in the Province of BC and was dedicated to improving public policy.
