Thetis Park Nature Sanctuary Association Scholarship

Thetis Park Nature Sanctuary Association (TPNSA) was organized in 1957. Since that time it has worked with the City of Victoria and with other organizations to maintain the natural qualities of the 1619-acre Thetis Lake Park, to improve facilities for recreation and education, to prevent loss of Park land and to add critical areas to the Park.  Accomplishments of the Association include production of the booklet Natural History of Thetis Lake Park near Victoria, British Columbia, funding, design and construction of the Woollett Memorial Information Centre, and trail development, maintenance and signing.  New members are welcome; phone 598-3417 or 477-6065.

The TPNSA Scholarship was funded by a donation to the Association from Miss M.C. Melburn about a year before her death in November of 1980.

Miss Melburn was one of the founding members of the Association and secretary-treasurer from 1957-1972.  As a result of her outstanding contributions she was granted Honorary Life Membership in 1972. Miss Melburn was a very knowledgeable botanist and was never hesitant to pass on her expertise to students and others.
