UVic Retirees Association Award

The University of Victoria Retirees Association (UVRA) was first registered with the BC Registry in 1994, with the mandate to further retirees' social, intellectual and cultural wellness, and to create opportunities to extend their relationship with the university. UVRA has the largest membership of any post-secondary retiree association in BC. We publish four newsletters per year, and organize regular social events, an annual Masterminds series of lectures by UVic retirees and, under the umbrella of our Elder Academy, a monthly lecture and fitness series. Encouraging research with and by our members is an important goal.

Our office is located in the same building as the Institute on Aging and Lifelong Health, which has created many opportunities—through sharing information on presentations of mutual interest, a common involvement in improving the wellness of the older population and research into their needs and experiences.

The UVRA Scholarship reflects our joint aims and is intended to provide encouragement to graduate students at this crucial stage of their careers.
