Vic Scott Award in Voice Accompaniment

Born in Vancouver and raised by a single mother, Vic Scott later married Bea Hicks (the daughter of his voice teacher, Gideon Hicks); together, Vic and Bea had a devoted marriage and a shared love of music before she passed away.

Known to all as a remarkable and artistic person who had a great sense of humour, Vic later met his best friend, Muriel Harding, on a bus trip to Palm Springs; Vic and Muriel then spent many years travelling and enjoying each other's company.

Having previously established the Bea Scott Scholarship in Voice and well aware of the importance of accompanist to a singer, Vic asked that this further support of UVic's voice program be considered his final legacy, as a demonstration of the wonderful friendship and love of music he shared with Muriel.
