Dr. Wilma Elias Scholarships

Dr. Wilma Elias passed away unexpectedly and quietly May 1, 2018, in her Oak Bay home.

Born in Calgary, Wilma obtained a BA and MA at the University of Saskatchewan and was the first woman to obtain a PhD at UBC. Wilma was a faculty member in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Victoria from 1958 to 1985.

More recently, she was an active member of the painting, scriveners and classical music clubs at the Monterey Recreation Centre.

A life-long learner, Wilma began teaching herself piano at the age of 90.
