Wendy M. Gedney Bursary in Elementary Education

Mrs. Wendy M. Gedney is an alumna of the Faculty of Education at the University of Victoria. Mrs. Gedney taught elementary school in the Victoria area for a number of years, starting at Doncaster Elementary, where she taught full-time from 1970 to 1973.

From 1974 to 1990, she taught and supervised student teachers, both locally and throughout the province, on a part-time basis while raising her family and taking courses toward her Bachelor of Education degree, which she received in 1983.

She loved teaching the young children as well as the university students. Mrs. Gedney returned to full-time primary teaching in 1990, teaching in four Victoria elementary schools. Her last nine years of teaching at Gordon Head Elementary School were special, one reason being this is where she also attended school as a youngster. She retired in 2004.
