Applied Theatre (PhD)

Research the dynamic global impact theatre can have on a wide variety of areas. Study the history of applied theatre or examine the interactions between theatre and refugees.

Look at the use of theatre in schools or in conflict zones. Research the role theatre can play in social justice or Indigenous language revitalization initiatives.

Outcomes

Students in this program will:

  • acquire advanced skills in Applied Theatre research design, analytical and critical thinking
  • engage with advanced theories of Applied Theatre facilitation, ethics and project design
  • implement a local or international research project imbedded in Applied Theatre practices
  • connect research with practical initiatives in socially engaged theatre

  • a detailed resumé of your educational background, theatre experience and teaching experience (if applicable)
  • a writing sample that speaks to your academic excellence
  • two reference names from theatre professors and/or recognized theatre professionals and their email addresses
