The  (VGS) is a non-profit heritage school, incorporated in 1986. It works to preserve the German Language in Canada and further the understanding of the culture, geography and history of German-speaking countries. VGS teaches 76 students ranging from 3 to 18 years old, and holds classes on Saturday morning and Tuesday afternoon on campus at the University of Victoria in the Clearihue Building.

VGS also offers German language courses to adults, including beginner, intermediate and advanced conversation classes.
